Who We Are
You will provide an excellent shopping experience for our hungry neighbors as they select nutritious food for their families.
What We Do
The Stewpot has taken over the Food Pantry that was formerly operated by CitySquare. We are honored to continue this wonderful program so that our neighbors can still be served! In order to do so, however, we will need volunteer support from both individuals and groups! We are recruiting for 20-25 volunteers in the morning and 20-25 in the afternoon, Tuesday - Friday.
Volunteers will help assist our neighbors in shopping for groceries. See below for some roles you might do during your time at the food pantry.
Volunteer Roles for the Pantry Include:
Intake: Assist with Check-in and helping make appointments. Bilingual - Spanish Speaking preferred.
Greeter: Open doors and assign shopping carts.
Shopping Assistant: ‘owns’ an aisle – greet neighbor, explain what’s on the shelves, number of items, restock as needed.
Bagger: Assist neighbors bag groceries.
Shopping Cart Runner: load groceries into vehicles and return carts to the front of the pantry.
Warehouse: help sort food items and move food items to shopping area.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 12 years old with adult chaperone. Volunteers 16 years of age or older can volunteer on their own.
- Closed toed shoes are REQUIRED. Dress comfortably and for the weather!
- Friendly and welcoming demeanor. Display kindness, and empathy toward those we’re serving, staff and other volunteers
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and lift at least 10 lbs. throughout the duration of your shift.
Thank you for your time, energy, and passion for serving our community! Because of your help, between 200-300 neighbors are able to receive groceries EACH day, Tuesday - Friday!
