Volunteer: Junior Crew (Middle School)


Volunteers are needed on Wednesday evenings to help with The Stewpot's Junior Crew (middle school students)! This is a wonderful service opportunity for volunteers 18 years and older.

DETAILS:

Students are currently seeking assistance with: writing, math (i.e. algebra, calculus) or hard sciences (i.e. chemistry, physics…etc.).
Homework time may fluctuate depending on the events scheduled for that given day. Your flexibility is greatly appreciated!
Volunteers may be asked to assist with projects at hand before homework time.
Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate clothing (i.e. nothing revealing, too short, or ill-fitting clothes). We take the dress code very seriously. If you are not dressed appropriately, you will be asked to leave.

STEPS TO APPLY:

Email volunteer@thestewpot.org to get the link to complete a background check (18 years or older) and the Child Safety Video/Quiz (scoring a passing grade). Save a copy of your Child Safety training certificate to bring with you. Wait for a confirmation email from our staff. Sign up for shifts!

Parking information: Come through the main front gate and drive around to the back of the church. We are in building C. There is a parking lot where you can park at the back. The building has a bell you can ring, in case it is locked.
Any big items, back packs, etc, should be left in your vehicle or at home.

Become a mentor to our high school students!

Our high school students are part of the Stewpot's Children and Youth Venturing Crew. Venturing Crew is an out-of-school program that meets on Wednesday evenings and provides enrichment and academic support. The Mentoring Program is an additional opportunity to enrich the lives of our students. Your skills and commitment can help further enrich the lives of our young scholars!

REQUIREMENTS: Possess an associate's/vocational degree (at minimum) Complete trainings Undergo background check Commit to two consecutive semesters of mentorship Meet with your mentee in person (in visible, public location) at least twice a month with activities lasting at least 1-2 hours. Volunteer: Saturday Kids' Club

Volunteers are needed every Saturday to help with The Stewpot's Saturday School Kids Club program! This is a wonderful service opportunity for volunteers who are 14 years and older.

Volunteers help with serving breakfast & lunch as well as helping with clean up. They engage with the students, while assisting the teachers in the classrooms. Volunteers also support in keeping the students on task and make sure that they're supervised and safe. Clean up may involve wiping down tables, and/or some light sweeping.

Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate clothing (i.e. nothing revealing, too short, or ill-fitting clothes). We take the dress code very seriously. If you are not dressed appropriately, you will be asked to leave.
